U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) introduced the Equal Rights Amendment in the Senate in 2010, taking over this landmark women’s equality legislation from the late Senator Edward Kennedy. To celebrate Women’s History Month he also established the Evangelina Menendez Trailblazer Awards, named in honor of his late mother and awarded to women of exceptional achievement. Senator Menendez received his B.A. from St. Peter’s College in Jersey City and his law degree from Rutgers University.
