BIO

Heidi Rummel is the co-founder and directing attorney of the Post‐Conviction Justice Project at the University of Southern California. She leads teams of law students who represent inmates serving life sentences in California. Many of their pro-bono clients are battered women behind bars for defending themselves or their child against a violent partner. To date, she and her students have helped win freedom for 55 women.
